"Trevor is really enjoying his bearded dragon Sand Storm, Stormy for short, sometimes we call him Little Dude. Sand Storm is very cute:) We have attached some pictures for you.
Thank you for all your crisis support, We have called several times in the week we have had our beardie.
We removed all the calci-sand after we talked to you the other night. We understand that the danger of the calci grains building up in our beardie like concrete clumps is to great.
Stormy seems happy and comfortable in his new enclosure and even more when we hold him. He usually does not want to let go even when we hold him for an hour. When we rub his back with a finger in the evening he closes his eyes and relaxes, what a life.
He is eating well although we have worried, as you know because we called you, that he eats 15 crickets one day and 50 to 60 another day. But he seems just fine. We feed him in a rubbermaid container setting in our bath tub with enough warm (~100F) water to keep the rubbermaid container bottom warm. We did this initially to feed him away from the calci-sand and to keep his enclosure cleaner. Now that we removed the calci-sand we just do it to keep his enclosure clearer. After he has eaten his morning meal (15-20 min) we give him a bath (15-20 min at ~95F). We are still trying to adjust to being temporary cricket farmers, but I think we can manage until Stormy grows in to an adult diet.
Trevor says Thank you!, Thank you!!, Thank you!!!, for his beautifully colored beardie." |
